TERMS OF SERVICE - MOBILE MESSAGING PROGRAM
Mobile Messaging Program of the New Orleans Workers’ Center for Racial Justice (hereafter “Workers’ Center”)
-
We at the Workers’ Center will contact individuals about our events, meetings, campaigns, and advocacy work. Only those people who have opted in to receive text messages from us through the website, digital forms, in-person sign-ins and other means through affirmative selection of an opt-in box will receive them.
-
You can cancel the SMS service at any time. Just text "STOP" in reply to the message. After you send the SMS message "STOP" to us, we will send you an SMS message to confirm that you have been unsubscribed. After this, you will no longer receive SMS messages from our Mobile Messaging Program. If you want to join again, just sign up as you did the first time and we will start sending SMS messages to you again.
-
If you are experiencing issues with the messaging program you can reply with the keyword HELP for more assistance, or you can get help directly at info@nowcrj.org.
-
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
-
As always, message and data rates may apply for any messages sent to you from us and to us from you. You will receive regular messages about upcoming events and campaigns. If you have any questions about your text plan or data plan, it is best to contact your wireless provider.
-
If you have any questions regarding privacy, please read our privacy policy below.

Information Collection
The Workers’ Center is the sole owner of the information collected on www.nowcrj.org, which may be collected at several different points on our website.
Donations
We request information from the user on our donation form. A user may need to provide contact information (such as name and billing address) and financial information (such as credit card number and expiration date). This information is used for billing purposes. If we have trouble processing a donation, the information is used to contact the user.

We request information from the user on our email signup and ‘Get Involved’ forms present on several pages of our website. A user may provide their name, email, phone number, and/or mailing address to receive communications from the Workers’ Center via email, phone, and/or postal mail. If a user wishes to subscribe to an electronic newsletter, we require only an email address. If a user wishes to subscribe to the mobile messaging, we require only a phone number.
Information Use
Log Files
Like most standard website servers, we use log files. This includes Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks. We use this information to analyze trends, administer the site, track user’s movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information.
Communications
Newsletter
If a user wishes to subscribe to our electronic newsletter, we require only an email address. Out of respect for our users’ privacy, we provide a way to opt-out of these communications. Please see the “Choice” and “Opt-out” sections below.
Mobile Messaging Program
If a user wishes to subscribe to our mobile messaging communications via text message, we require only a mobile phone number. Out of respect for our users’ privacy, we provide a way to opt-out of these communications. Please see the “Choice” and “Opt-out” sections below.
Information Sharing
Legal disclaimer
Though we make every effort to preserve user privacy, we may need to disclose personal information when required by law wherein we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order, or legal process served on our website.
These are the instances in which we will share users’ personal information:
Third-party Intermediaries
We use an outside Internet service provider to host and maintain our Web servers and bulk email service, and a credit card processing company for donations. These companies do not retain, share, store, or use personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes.
Links
This website contains links to other sites. Please be aware that the Workers’ Center is not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy policies of each and every website that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy policy applies solely to information collected by this website.
Choice/Opt-out
Users who no longer wish to receive our newsletters and/or promotional communications may opt-out of receiving these communications by visiting the Workers’ Center’s unsubscribe page or replying STOP to a text message. We offer opt-out mechanisms at the bottom of each such email and mobile text message. Users may also unsubscribe from email lists by contacting the Workers’ Center at info@nowcrj.org with “Unsubscribe” in the subject.
Security
This website takes every precaution to protect our users’ information. When users submit sensitive information via the website, their information is protected both online and off-line.
When our donation page asks users to enter sensitive information (such as credit card number), that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry — SSL. While on a secure page, such as our Donation page, the padlock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Mozilla and Chrome becomes locked, as opposed to unlocked, or open, when users are just “surfing.”
Correcting/Updating/Deleting Personal Information
If a user’s personally identifiable information changes (such as zip code, phone, email, or postal address), or if a user no longer desires our service, we provide a way to correct, update, or delete users’ personally identifiable information. This can be done by emailing us at info@nowcrj.org, or by contacting us via telephone or postal mail using the contact information listed below.
Notification of Changes
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes to this page and other places we deem appropriate so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it.
Contact Information
If users have questions or concerns regarding this document, they should contact the Workers’ Center at info@nowcrj.org or (504) 309-5165.
